Activity Groups

We have a great many activity groups for our members. Check out our activity groups and take part! We look forward to seeing you there.

Blade and Spade - Blade and Spade usually meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month for lectures and field trips to places such as Bonsai Gardens, Watson's, Sunnycrest, etc., within the Washington area.

Bocce Ball - Let’s play Bocce! Calling all Bocce players or “want-to-be's”. We’ve been having good turnouts with spirited games! We play on Friday afternoons at Donkey Creek Park, weather permitting.

Bridge - All levels of bridge are invited to play. We meet at 1pm on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at Harbor Place at Cottesmore.

Book Clubs - Book Club 1 meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month, 1:00 p.m., and Book Club 2 meets on the 2nd Thursday, 1:00 p.m. These clubs meet in members’ homes. Books are chosen by group members, and the monthly host facilitates the book discussions.

Bunco - Bunco Group 1 meets on the 1st Thursday of the month, 12:30 p.m.; and Bunco Group 2 meets on the 4th Thursday, 12:30 p.m. Bunco is a fast, easy, fun game, and no experience is necessary. Just roll the dice, count the spots!

Casino - Casino Goers: We normally meet the 3rd Saturday of odd numbered months and carpool to the casino. All are welcome.

Cocktailers - Cocktailers meets on the 4th Saturday evening of each month, 6:00 p.m., at members' homes for hors d'oeuvres, drinks and good conversation.

Computer Club - The purpose of the Computer Club is for members to help each other with computer problems and to share knowledge about software and computer operations. Members meet on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, 1:30 p.m., at the Gig Harbor Library.

Dog Walking - All dogs welcome, big or little, and bring your humans with you for walks in local parks or the downtown area. We meet weekly at various times and places.

Friday Night Out - Couples meet on the first Friday of each month to enjoy cocktails, light hors d'oeuvres and dinner. Each month, the activity is hosted by one of the couples. Hosts serve their choices of cocktails or other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and light hors d'oeuvres. Hosts also coordinate dinner arrangements and other activities, such as games or discussions.

Genealogy Group - This is a small, informal group whose objective is to explore family history, research tools and techniques, and share experiences. The group typically meets on the 3rd Friday of the month, 2:30 p.m., at the Gig Harbor Library.

Hiking Group- Members hike at various sites in the Washington area.

Kayaking - Members kayak in local waters, depending on the weather.

Lunch Bunch - Lunch Bunch meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month, 11:30 a.m., at local restaurants. Members combine good food with companionship and conversation

Mah Jongg Group - Mah Jongg players meet upstairs at the Peninsula Retirement Center in Gig Harbor on the 2nd and 3rd Tuesday of the month, 10:30am. We each bring a sack lunch for the luncheon break.

Men’s Breakfast Group - Each member volunteers to choose a month to plan an event. We normally meet on the 2nd Saturday of the month and always enjoy good food, a brief program and each other’s company.

Men’s Golf - Join us for a friendly round of golf on Mondays as long as the weather allows. New members can call for dates and times

Men’s Recreation Group - This group tours various places of interest and lunches together on the 3rd Thursday of the month.

Needle Arts - This group normally meets on the first Thursday of each month at 10:30 a.m. in members' homes. Members visit and eat lunch, while working on all kinds of needle arts projects (quilting, needle point, cross stitching, crocheting, knitting, etc.).

Pinochle - Pinochle Group 1 meets on the 1st Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m., and Pinochle Group 2 meets on the 3rd Thursday at 5:00 p.m. Both groups play at Harbor Place at Cottesmore. Both groups play for FUN!

Stamp Collecting - If you are interested in stamps, their history, and stamp collecting, this is the group for you.

Tennis - All levels of tennis players are welcome. We meet at various locations, typically on Fridays, in Gig Harbor as weather permits.

Theatre - Group tickets are purchased at local theatres in Tacoma, Bremerton, Gig Harbor and Olympia. Each matinee event is typically followed by dinner.

Travel Club - The Travel Club normally meets on the second Tuesday of the month, 7:00 p.m., in members’ homes to plan car, train, and/or cruise trips.

Walking Group - This group meets on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month, 10:00 a.m., to walk in various areas in and around Gig Harbor. It's for people who enjoy a good walk - about 1-1/2 to 2 hours - camaraderie and fun!

Simply check or circle the groups in which you are interested, and the membership chairman will notify the activity coordinator, who will, in turn, contact you. If by any chance you do not receive a call, then call the name and number listed for that activity in the newsletter that you will be provided.
